My Continued Creativity Journey

I am making a Santos Doll instructed by Jen Rizzo in Jeanne Oliver's on line class.  I'm going to move forward, I promise!

I remember now how much I loved drawing in high school.  I have always journaled and have now learned some new techniques to make them beautiful.  The 4 week class is over but we have until the end of March to rewatch and do the projects.  I think I will start over and repeat my favorites!

This is my sketch of me as a little girl at Easter time, my mom always pin curled my hair and dressed me so pretty.  I loved my purse, hat, gloves and black shoes.  Of course the dress always had cremlins!

I haven't put the words on yet but it is titled LETTING GO.  My mantra this past year has been "Let go, Let GOD", everytime I stressed or things went wrong, I would repeat this.  We all have things we don't let go of, don't we?

From France, the dealer has a home there, I tried not to hate her so I bought this!!  Can't you see this holding test tubes of flowers

An old sterilizer, thankful we didn't use this in our office

 A wire mannequin

Don't I wish this was in my house, the whole thing, it is so my style.

 La Mannequin
La femme, I still am looking for the words to put on her

My little grandsons who are the best of friends

I hope your week is going great, much love, Di

Courage in Life

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it. - Mother Teresa

A dear courageous relative passed away this week.  Mother Teresa's quote sums up, to me, the way he lived his life.  He was full of fun, had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed life.  He confronted his illness and fought for life.  He will be so missed at our family reunions.
So I take this to heart and know it is true, Life is too precious, Life is life, fight for it.  Life is a song and I will sing it!
Take care my friends, Enjoy Today,
                                                                           Di

My Creative Space

My creative space has changed these last 4 months.  Since my daughter, son-in-law and grandson have moved in I have given my craft/office room to them.  The little one is in the guest room and I think we should call it the toy room!  So I've had to move all my crafting supplies to my sunroom, dining room and basically anywhere I can put them.  That does lead me to seaching so I have to be very organized or very messy.  Usually it is the messy!

This is my creative thinking and sorting space.

All my magazines and decorating books are right by my side

This is my work area with about every pen, paint and glues I have working on my recent projects.  Yes, the dining room table.

I love it because I can really spread out.

My glass jars are filled with bits and pieces

My stamps and punches are stored in this great storage, it's for toys but I got it at a gargae sale for a few dollars.

I have these traincases for my ribbons and small fabrics 2 big suitcases
This is what I dream about for this summer when the kids get their place

A work station will map drawers!  The top filled with my jars so I can see my supplies

A big table to spread out on!

A comfy sitting area
Oh and lots of drawers with labels.

Until then I love having my family all around and will continue to create where ever I can!

Springing into Spring

It has been almost Spring like here in Asheville!  No I am not in shorts but some of the days have been like Florida!  It did get me in that Spring mood.  With that in mind I took the chair I found or shall I say it found me, and repurposed it.   So I took it apart.  Initially I wanted the wheels and top part of the chair.  A bonus was the springs.

We are still wearing our jackets but playing outside!  I was able to work outside and get the chair apart and paint.
Six beautiful but dirty springs, it took a bit to clean them and get the strings off.
I then painted them.  I used Old White and Louis Blue Anne Sloan Chalk Paint.

Time to Paint

I had some great finds in the last month at the Goodwill, I thought I would take my Anne Sloan paint and refresh these old treasures.

The pieces were painted with blue
and white next.  I then destressed (distressed)!  The time just melts away while I am playing!

I then waxed with clear followed by dark to give that aged look I love
I love saving this treasure, the hours of time spent to cross stich and those sweet blue birds reminding me of my parents.
This sweet clock is from the 60's, it has a place for a picture, I place vintage looking cardstock!

This vintage 30's frame is saved and I got a great vintage picture to boot!

Sharing these fun finds all $4 and under!!  I like rescuing these sweet vintage pieces. Di
