Holiday Traditions

Do you have favorite holiday tradition?  Whenever I start decorating I touch memories of my parents and the fun we had at Christmas.  Some of my favorite decorations come from my and hubby's parents.  My dad made wooden Deer for us.  I put them up the other day and this is what happened...
Photo: Today witnessed a tragic scene, here in Asheville a nefarious wind decimated a herd of peaceful wooden reindeer. Life may never be the same again!
My hubby posted a funny news statement "Today witnessed a
tragic scene, here in Asheville a nefarious wind decimated a herd of peaceful wooden reindeer. Life may never be the same again!"

My dad would have laughed over this.

He and his friend would play jokes with these reindeer.  One year his friend tried to steal them.  I saw someone in the yard and yelled out, "someone is stealing the dear".  My frail dad about knocked me over trying to get to the door to stop them...hee hee it was his friend.  Such great memories.  I miss them so much.
Thankfully, I have my daughters and grandsons.
Holiday Shopping is always a hit with me.  My daughter and grandson took me to my favorite Antique Shop "Screen Door" and to Lunch.
You know you go shopping way to much when your favorite shop keepers say "the grandboy sure is getting tall"!!  We love it.  So, some favorite shots around the shop...
The Santa's looked a little scary but fun!
Yes Santa, really, I have been good

Visions of Sweet Dreams

Visions of Sweet Dreams are dancing in my head.  My daughter is making my grandson's room into a big boy room for his 5th Birthday.

She wants bunk beds.  So I went on a little search by means of looking at these simple Gami beds.  I went to Cleverclicker .  I found so great ideas for her.  I am thinking these would be an awesome Christmas and Birthday present for the little guy.

While I was looking around I also saw a bed for my other daughter.  She has been sleeping on mattress on the floor since she moved here!  Their bed fell out of the moving vehicle when they moved here.  I saw this stylish Hasena bed by going here...
Isn't this wonderful, even the background headboard is perfect.  I wish I could wrap it all up and poof it could be in their house!
Do you think it will fit in her
stocking?
I love beautiful beds, this is my craft room/guest room bed...just waiting for the boys.

Thankfully we have 2 guest rooms, cause this little one is growing up.......last holiday

We are having a fun holiday with a toddler in the house!

Pink and Grey Christmas Creations

I love pink and grey together.  This is a vintage piece of fabric that was a curtain!  I love, love this tapestry. So I wanted to continue my Grey and pink in restoring an old Christmas music box.  I painted the box in Annie Sloan pink and decoupaged a label on to the top.  I then sanded the box lightly and waxed it.
 Sweet.

I had some beautiful red tin, rusty and crusty in all the right places.  On the back was some great green peeling paint.  I also had some wonderful 50's wall paper.  I had to think for awhile of what I could create.  Pink and grey and Victorian, score.

I took some of my favorite clippings, laces and created this Holiday Hanging
I Added some images of advertising labels and made a few magnets

One of my labels was this advertisement for Fine Cottons!!

I love the pink and gray with the cameo

This reminded me of the Tavern on the Green dining rooms in New York.  When we visited it was all dressed up with beautiful lanterns outside.

On the back of the wallpaper was this great graphic "HOLIDAY", so it had to make it on.  I am calling this one "Home for the Holiday".
I still need to add some Christmas Bling, but I am happy how I combined my junk finds with some beautiful graphics for some Holiday Cheer

Happy Holidays to you, Happy Holiday~~~~Joining
