Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving
It is brisk and clear here in Asheville.  We are so thankful to be here and near to our loved ones.  Hubby and I are going to spend the afternoon with our daughter and her family.  My son-in-law is one of the best cooks.  He cooks all organic and gluten free.  The food is amazing!  We are very thankful for the opportunity to be near our grandkids and nieces.

Thankful for these two new additions to our family, Maggie Mae and Sophia!  Sophia is photo bombing in the lower right corner!
So thanful we live in a country that supports our freedoms
So thankful for my sweet hubby, we have been married 40 years and he is my rock and guiding force!  Partners in adventure, and he puts up with my junking and antique hunts!

Thankful for our businesses that respect family and don't open on holidays.  Poor hubby has to work at 3pm today.  Retail has no respect for family values.
Very thankful for the land that our forefathers forged for us and the men and women that fought to make this our homeland.

Thankful for our homes, big or small, it were we hold our families close to us
Our new home site, it can't go up quick enough but I am very grateful for each board in our home.  It will be small but mighty!
And thankful, so thankful for the fellowship of you, my fellow bloggers.  Near and far I thank you for your friendship.  You make my day with your comments and your blogs.

I'm Dreaming of White Buttons

Winter White Button Book Swap was so much fun.  I participated with some great creaters

Laurie Jackson @ Button Floozies hosted this wonderful button swap.  I have collected buttons for years and it was fun to create something for someone else

Button Floozies Button Book Swap 2014

My book was filled with lace, paper and buttons
I built a snowman!

I found so much joy in creating.  I spent time selecting each piece.  My grandson helped me build the snowman on a snow day!  How appropriate...
We watched frozen the night before to get ready for the snow!  It only lasted one day but gave us inspiration.

Pieces of lace and buttons repupose in such a meaningful way.  Who knows what function they performed before this.  I love creamy white and used a vintage baby sock as well.

I used my favorite papers and quotes.  I incorporated a vintage handkerchief and many secret pockets

I stuffed this pocket with small buttons
I did put a touch of color in on my last page.  I used a page out of an old cook book and added some vintage petite candy canes!

Visual Shopping Trip

I am ready for my house, it just can't be built fast enough!  I saw this at The Screen Door Antique Shop and went on a visual shopping spree!  Would't my Christmas be wonderful.
I saw this set-up and loved it.  I sure could see the dough bowl on my dining room table, the lamp on my desk and the metal spoke half wheel on my mantle.

A few holiday decorations to brighten up my room.  Do you see that brown transferware.  Be still my heart.  Our house has the subfloor laid and exterior walls up.  I can see it coming along and it is making me dream about putting my furniture in.  I have planned on the computer but afraid not everything is going to fit.  We are downsizing to 1500 sq. feet.
I am going to do a little Christmas decorating in our rental this upcoming week but saw these at the antique store!

And then I rounded the corner and this caught my eye...
Could I just transport all this to my new house?  Oh good golly.  My cottage set is just as beautiful as this but green.  I can't wait to get it up in our new house. Here is the front of the house

We hope to move in January

Thank you for joining me on my visual shopping spree...I will share with you tomorrow what I brought home!  Can't wait to start decorating.
