Day 21 Fall Days and Collecting Day

Beautiful Fall Day in Asheville to have some Family Time
We started out at the Consignment Store and the boots I was going to buy were gone...just like antiquing, junking or collecting strike when you see something you like!
We picked up the grandson from early day and headed downtown to look around...I try to keep my Etsy shop filled, daughters love helping by either making items or finding items.
The beautiful sky with the building drapped for fall, change is in the air!

Cute doll trunk, my bear fits in so comfortabe but I did post this on my shop

This I am keeping in my stash for now, loving the tourquoise and crown on top

There are some great tips in here and think I will keep this as well, it goes so well with my white and cream

This is the book with beautiful templates...I did put this in my shop.
I love Dragonfiles.  "It's hope that gets you there..." from the Movie Dragonfly with Kevin Costner  (love the end and won't give it away).

A beautiful iron clock that I haven't decided to part with, I love the woman on the clock.  I am continuing my mom's love for clocks.

I found 5 great old white boxes filled with these cools buttons ready for assembly...I kept a box for me and listed the rest in my shop
Wonderful english primer I parted with on the shop

And then there is this sweet pail I found for $4 that I am having a hard time parting with, in the same both was a blue iron that I kept also.  Love that shade of blue, I have a secretary that I want to paint with Anne Slone blue!
Baby girl daughter took this home, 80's fiesta tourquoise water pitcher $5 at a tag sale.
I am seeing a trend, I think we are keeping more than we are selling!
In all we have so much fun looking and stopping at garage sales and antique places.  My girls have an appreciation of found things, it warms my heart...now their boys go with us and I love that too!

Day 20 French Twist

A little inspiration for Thursday...
I was reminded of inspiration and our family fun when I was looking at pictures this week.  When you dream...do you wonder if it is fantasy... or is it a possibility?
Yes, I am a dreamer.  No, we are not international travelers but my dream trip was a possibility made real.  My work had a beautiful workshop to guide us to our possibilities and mine was making my daughter's dream wedding in Ireland happen. When we traveled to Europe for my daughter Erin's wedding we did a few days in Paris...I have loved all things French, so when we could make this happen I jumped on this.    It actually came together through touches of little miracle finds.  The cost was kept down since only my other daughter, her husband and little one and his sister and boyfriend and us traveled.  Every one stayed together in great homes we found.  We kept the wedding simple and my other daughter and son-in law did the video and photography.  It was my dream trip as well as theirs.

Today I am sharing my love of French Twist

A beautiful marble clock from my mom's collection, now softly reminding me of her love of clocks

A beautiful pitcher made by my husbands grandmother filled with hydrangea's

Oui, Oui very frenchy compact from the 40's

A lovely petit point purse

It's from France you know...Limoges

Oh yes blue and white bobbins

A petite touch of french elegance

Autumn Leaves are Falling Day 19 of Family Fun

Autumn Leaves are so beautiful but did you know the song "Autumn Leaves" in French is
"Les Feuilles mortes" (literally "The Dead Leaves") ?

Beautiful Fall Leaves in our yard make the yard look alive to me
                                                            A Carpet in our yard

                                                                    Leaves everywhere
A Few Posts ago I shared my flowers, so with all the leaves about me I thought I needed to made a banner of leaves

To go with my flowers...one of the things I love about blogland is that everyone shares...I saw the leaf idea on Girl in Pink  http://onegirlinpink.blogspot.com/ , I wanted to make this leaf banner!!
I even went to Michaels and bought the leaf cutter that she featured!  So here is how I did it...Leaf cutter, pencil, old book (bought for 50 cents at the church flea market), scissors, sewing machine and white thread

I tore the pages out and traced the pattern on the pages.  I was able to cut out 10 pages at a time.  I laid them out to see how I would like them.  I cut out about 60 leaves and bunched mine pretty tight as I sewed. I was afraid to try this because it sounded hard...was not.  I just sat down and went one leaf at a time laying them in varying up, down, tilted etc...  I probably bunched a bit much but it is fine.
I tacked them up and had to use clear tape to secure some of the areas.  I did attempt to twist but didn't get the effect I wanted.  This actually didn't take to long and had it ready with the grandson came home!!

Dressing the Book case for fall, top layer done, Should I add more and more layers????
