Baby it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside!  We have two fireplaces in our house.  One upstairs in the living room and one downstairs in the family room.  One is a traditional gas stove and one is wood burning.

This is upstairs gas, I painted it in September, go here to read

Here is our family room wood burning.
Now hubby is talking about a different type in our bedroom!

This room went from brown to creamy white, check it out here
He would love on to be across from the bed with a TV on top.  What are you dreaming?  No really, they make them.  So I went to Fireplace Megastore (click to go on link).  Oh wow, there was exactly what he talked about
Acquisitions X-Fire Widescreen Electric Fire  I love this picture frame look, this one is an electric Hang On the Wall widescreen.  I can just picture a toasty room. Click on pictures to see the awesome information.

Acquisitions X-Fire 1000 Electric Fire Here is another version that would look wonderful with my painted room
Woodform Interiors Cambridge Fireplace Surround

And yes he mentioned he would love this one down in

the family room and I don't blame him, I happen to love

this and other quality gas fire baskets too.

So we shall see if we get to redo the Bedroom with a

Until then I will enjoy the ones we have, Di

Walking in the mountains

I have such an active lifestyle.  I work fulltime (even though I retired 3 years ago, hee hee).  We moved to North Carolina to be close to our family.
No this isn't my house, but I love to walk these grounds at the Biltmore House in Asheville

Being a nurse, grandmother and a DIYER (do it yourselfer with a little help from my friends).  I have one little issue.

Rheumatoid Arthritis and my hands and ankle sometime scream at me!  Now, I am not complaining, I am very fortunate to have been diagnosed early and received ongoing treatment.

The biggest problem I have is my ankles and feet.  Yay, you know the things that carry the rest of my body.  I had Physical therapy last year and came to the realization I must wear the right shoes.  What, sandles and my favorite flat shoes are out.  Being bare foot is not an option...really you are talking to a Florida girl, the first thing to go is the shoes.

After exercise stretches for my feet, the therapist put foot arch support insoles in my exisiting shoes.  Next step new shoes, the therapist gave me directions to a shop, a big discount shoe store in Asheville.  I was overwhelmed but was able to get great supportive shoes for work and tennis shoes for activities.

I was able to climb the trails in Brevard to see these beautiful falls and spend a fabulous day with my family

Yes, I still go barefoot (don't tell Melinda, my PT lady!).  And I will wear my cute TOMS sometime, but my ankles were better.
Until recently,  I stay so busy going upstairs since on TV room is downstairs.  Some days I dread those stairs.  And yes, I painted the boards!  Oh now my hands and knees hurt.
Well, you know you have to replace those foot arch support insoles.     Oh my, everything I need.  Let me tell you those supports are calling my name.  Simply go to www.simplyfeet.co.uk/footcare-products/insoles/arch-supports.html.  I love the Tullis Gaitors, that little bit of support will help with my fancy shoes. There are also other Spenco products available online to look at.

Next on my list is a pair of shoes that I can wear that will look good with dresses!  Yep, that's me sliding down the slide with my niece.  I can't count the number of times the grandkids and nieces had hubby and me go down that slide and walk the corn maze but I did it!!  Only one fall, but I got up...that's what counts!

Here is hubby coming down!  He has arch supports in his shoes too!

These are the shoes I want in black for my walking around in cute pants and skirts!
BlackRed

Thankfully with my treatment and ongoing care I can continue to do the things I love.

Veteran's Day

Veterans Day Remembrance, Thank you all veterans.  Growing up an army brat, I don't think I really thought of the brave acts my dad performed.  It was not until I started researching our roots did I realize how my family served this country.   My mom, an army wife worked for the government and had a patent on a typing template.  Both sides of the family fought for this country since the beginning of this nation.

My dad serve in the Korea War and World War II, he stayed in the Army until he retired during Vietnam.  He is my hero.  He presented one of his medals to my grandson right before he passed away.
Yes, this little boy is growing up and honors his Pops' memory.  He wore his uniform all Memorial Day and told people how his great grandfather gave him this medal!

My dad and his 8 brothers serve in World War I and II

My ancestor Dr. William Dawes rode for America with Paul Revere alerting "The British are coming"

A Salute to all our veterans  we will always honor and remember you, your legend lives on.

Grey, Blue and White

I do love to shop around and when I find unusual things I bring them home!  This iron feris wheel is just the right color, grey blue, it matches the table I painted with Provence Blue.
I then found this!  Blue and White, Cows, Country Farm
 A better View...
Did you see that sneak peak above...yes it's a platter

I love the scene in the middle and the sculpture around the plate...it goes so well on my sideboard.

It brings that soft glow to my silver and sweet nest

The tones of grey lend its self to blue and white

Isn't it funny how one piece will tie the room together!  All my favorite things in one area!

I love chippy white, crusty iron petals, blues and greys

I can't wait to sit by the fireplace and curl up with my favorite bloggers and a cup of tea
I hope your Sunday was fulfilling and I am so Thankful for my family, my husbands health and our home!  Have a great week!
