Garden joys

Around town this week I saw some beautiful sights. The weather has been hot with very few showered to cool us down. This beautiful scene was on a rocking chair in Black Mountain in western NC

Our house is in full summer bloom

We had our garden planned and beautiful plants are popping up. Below is a short least hydrangea

 Purple iris

 My sweet Mr. Weeping Fir

Sweet miniature lazy Susan's and pretty sweet pink asylum

From the driveway to the fence I pine I planted blueberries and blackberries. This weekend I picked 2 big bowls. Yum

To get some sone ideas fir the yard I went to Black Mtn.

On my trip to Black Mtn. I had tea at a local shop and got more ideas for the garden. I love stepping stones. I found some beautiful stones a the local stone yard

I want these to border my planting areas and to form walkways

I love how the Tea room used stones
Pretty flowers along the walk ways in downtown
This is the walk down from a side street to the tea room.

The town painted the rocking chairs, love

I hope your week is filled with joy!

Where Bloggers Create. My space

Every year I look forward to Karen's Where Bloggers Create event.  http://www.mydesertcottage.com/

My journey to this craft room was part of my dream of Cottage Wishes. We moved into our Cottage last year. I am excited share my creating space with you all.
 So step into my room.
I also have it as a guest room and use every inch to create. I love sitting on the bed to gather ideas or use it to cut material.
My desk is from a Victorian home in Asheville. It was a built in and torn out. I haven't changed a thing. I just cleaned it and loved it.
I have my dream board above the desk. It is a crib spring!
As you can see I make myself comfy
Here are some things I am working on. I love to use mixed media. Susan Edmondson uses fabric and stitches to create beautiful landscapes. I am working on a winter scene.
My other muse is Suzi Quifle at http://suziqusthreadworks.blogspot.com/. I am working on a fabric book from her E class

I really like the lamp my friend brought back from Round Top Texas
Near my desk is my cabinet of collected goodies.
Each shelf holds found treasures

Every space is used. In the suitcases are my fabrics. The red accordion chest has my threads, buttons and beads.

Jeannie Oliver is my mentor for some of my favorite projects. I learn so much from her. These books were created from her E class. The one on the right was made 6 years ago when I first started my blog

In full disclosure, I have a very messy closet of supplies as well!
While I am at it, I also spill over into the official guest room

The suitcases have my crafting supplies as well!
I feel like a princess in my room, my crown might be a little crooked but my heart is full of joy!!

Thank you for coming over. Now join the others in touring some creative spaces.
Much love. Di

Crafting on the 4th

I am getting my craft on this holiday weekend. I took a fun class at Random Arts in Saluda, NC with Susan Edmondson.

I am working on a fabric book and added some of my creations in there

I used my scraps from projects and created a vintage look to honor my grandparents from Lake Helen Florida

My dad was one of 18 children. His mom was the third wife.

My grandma, Emma, had 9 and Sarah the first wife had 9. Wife number 2 only lasted 2 days. J.D. Said he didn't like her, so he put her on a train with a sack of potatoes sent her on her way.

I found a sweet picture of my cousins and me. I am the one in suspenders (city girl but country at heart).

My next project to work on is a House on the Hill!  This is Susan's work.

I will be working at my desk enjoying my view and thinking of joy!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday

Be safe and enjoy your holiday!  I am so thankful for our freedom.  Di
