Busy Busy Bee

Busy Busy Bee Projects

I have been busy preparing for the holidays and have completed so many of my "Wish List Projects".  It started with my fabric stash!  I love vintage tablecloths but since we moved we only have room for our farm table.  My great vintage enamel table now lives at my brothers house.
So I took my fabrics, tablecloths, lace, burlap and books and started creating.

                                                                          Lined and reversible
                                                                               Paper Banners

My Beautiful daughter made crochet hats

Now off to make more white ironstone and burlap projects, which will showcase next!!!  Oh yes, I have to get a new case of sewing machine needles since one broke!  So out in the rain I go and I hope you will stop by to see my goodies at my Etsy Shop.

Mom's Recipies

Mom's Recipies

Don't you love to find handwritten recipies?  My mom my Birthday Cakes for me for years...I have the memories of her preparing this cake.

It has been cold in Asheville and that certainly puts us in the mood to nest.  We had a great Pie day testing our recipies for Thanksgiving.     So we gathered our recipies...me prefering my handwritten heritage recipies and my daughter, hi-tech, with her Epicurious search.

We got out the 1950's mixer because I wanted to make my pie like my mom did

I didn't get my usual pie for my birthday so I made my mom's Lemon Meragine Pie.  Kiki said I even did the Meragine perfectly.

KiKi made her Apple Crumb pie.  Both came out fanstatic and we have just a little tweaking to do.
Ro and I had date night on Friday to see his cousin Charlotte's play.  Ro bought flowers to give her after her performance.  Best date night with my grandson.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend... Safe Travels, Di

Moday's Moments

Monday's Moments
My moment this weekend and today was learning new skills.  I usually learn by doing so following a learning tool and then completing the task I found I didn't get it right.  After some tutorial refresher and talking to a support person I got it right.
That is one thing about learning new things, unless it is life or death you can usually fix it!  Thank goodness for support people.

One of my other moments this weekend was remembering I have my mom's Indian Tree Dishes and Cranberry dishes I should get out of storage for the holidays!!
My Mom's Indian Tree Dishes

Time to start thinking about the Holdiay table settings
                                                                     Organize my recipies
                                                              Gather all my dishes
                                                                          And organize myself

So Happy Monday and let's get going for the week and have a great one,
Di

Creating Inside Gardens

Firs,t off let me thank The Thrifty Groove for Featuring my Dining Room, I am continuing on my Burlap Creations with more to come but I did create Container Gardens to present!  Please visit her and see my featured post.  Join us for some great fun.

Quick and Easy Inside Gardens
Seasons pass by so fast Fall is quickly moving into Winter
I wanted to preserve my plantings from Summer, the nights here are going down to 20's

                                                               Lamb's Ear from front yard

A new begining for our plants

A little nuturing and alot of growth happened from Summer to Winter

Sweet kisses always make for a great day
To create the dish gardens gather your favorite planters...mine are McCoy cream planters $3 each, an Ironstone dish that I got for $2 and a beautiful pot that I found in the laundry room.

Next, gather plants...I got Lamb's ear, Succulant's from the garden and curly hair plant from garden
succulents

Curly hair plant
Place rocks and soil (organic if you can) in the dishes.  I just happened to have leftover bag in the storage (FREE).

During the move my $2 Ironstone dish chipped but I love it anyway; I filled the pots and started adding plants.  The one thing I spent this weekend was $7 for the green moss at the nursery...I think it added a nice touch.

Plant for Erin's birthday, a vintage flower pot and dish...Free, I added a pretty handmade card and a gift card for a free overnight babysitting service (from us Mimi and Papa)!
 McCoy Planters

For the holidays I am going to add so Fairies from the Garden shop Thyme in the Garden

Have Fun with your Gardens

Cloches and Fall's Softer Side

Fall quickly moving to Winter here in Asheville
I played around with my white wicker buffet, which I lovingly got in the 80's from my great Uncle Pat.
He bought it off a "mountain" guy heading to the flea market.  I quickly said I would buy it from him.
The deal was made, and I got a chair that matched from the Farm and he delivered it from Linville Falls To Orlando...what a deal!!!  And now it is back in North Carolina, funny how life does that.

This is how it looked

Adding a fall theme

The plate belonged to my husband's family from Ireland

A sweet little groud blessed in kisses of white & orange

Added in my bell jars with nest and shells and a dish from the garden (tutorial for dish gardens coming up!)

The glory of fall's end of day in the background
